Formation of SHGs among women members is a continuous task of Annai Trust, besides guiding the existing groups to function regularly. The staff makes direct visit to the villages and interact with the community for forming women SHGs. With the regular follow up, the community members realize the importance of coming together for common objective and agreed to form the SHG.
After the formation, the groups started the savings practice and document the activities in separate registers.
Generally, the SHGs conduct two meetings in a month within their village. The Animator & Representatives of the SHG share the key information on personal hygiene, public health, employment opportunities, rights of children, women and human with other members, which was gathered in the monthly review meeting at Annai office, Kaveripattinam.
Public Affairs Centre (PAC), Bangalore & Annai Trust organized training program for Village Poverty Reduction Committees (VPRC) & Panchayat Level Federations (PLF) in six panchayats of three blocks in Krishnagiri district to promote villages Open Defecation Free (ODF). The program also focused on increasing the usage of toilets by all the family members in targeted villages.
Annai Trust had organized International Women’s Day during March’2020 with about 700 female members, Indian Bank Officers, Representatives from Gramalaya NGO, Trichi.
Mr Thirumavalavan, Zonal Manager, Indian Bank, shared his experience with women SHGs from the initial years and how the moment transformed many lives of families today. Other bank officials stress on entrepreneurial skills for women, especially for young women to improve their socio-economic conditions. The gathering was educated on menstrual hygiene practices, importance of using cloth napkins and on pursuing skill trainings to generate more income by Resource persons from Gramalaya.
The participants took part in fun competitions like bread/banana eating, coir pulling at the end of the event.
Annai has also celebrated the Independence Day, Republic day to commemorate our forefathers who fought tirelessly for our Country’s independence.
